Its Been A Long Time

Good evening, its been a long time...didn't realize how long since I had published here. There's a bit of news on the jewelry front.  Here we go....

I still continue creating while I can. I've had a few set backs and things are getting busier with my little one entering school this year. I  am showcasing a collection of items at a local shop in Burien called Suite Assignments.

Here's a couple of creations you will see there if you stop by. The first one is a green agate and 14kt gold wrapped ring. The second is a bright orange agate 14kt gold ring surrounded by pearls and crystals.

I finished something new tonight...heres a peek...blue stone chip necklace with glass leaves which look very much like daggers...?

My last sold item....peacock and potato pearl dangles on sterling silver hammered earrings

And one of my favorite designs still available in my etsy shop...mother of pearl discs hanging from oxidized sterling silver chain and wire wrapped onto copper earwires.

Last but not least...something a little fun. I bought myself a laptop this year that has a webcam...ooo fun

The new year is coming to a close and its time to be thinking of next years goals. I pondered a bit this last year over my creative ventures, what to keep doing and what not to. I closed up my UsTrendy and then had slight remorse. I prefer not to give up on a site but I can only keep up with so much. I had been approached by a California online boutique so started a shop presence there and soon after found that I could not contact them. I reclaimed an old domain name and couldn't be more tickled with that.

I began writing more, doing open mics and workshops. I published in print once and missed one deadline to be published in print again by the same entity. OOPS. A story I began writing over 12 years ago peaked my interests and I decided to attack it with a renewed vision. So far, I have fourteen pages front and back hand written. Yes, I am writing it in a notebook unlike many who are using computers. I don't have to worry about finding wifi.

I've been involved for the last few years with fundraising for Parent Trust. Below is a photo from the wine and cheese event and more recently, I assisted and had great fun at The Mad Hatter Tea Party. I painted faces, decorated tables and recorded during the auction.

I am sure this next year will be a great one and I will continue on with writing, creating, donating time and creativity except by mid June I will be doing so as Mrs...yes, I got engaged! Have never been happier...stay tuned.

Peace, love and hoping your year is filled with many positives!

Awesome Photography by Scott Williams

I riffled thru photos online trying to determine the best words to describe  Scott Williams style and work. I had to message him to choose a photo to use with this post because I truly could not decide which was my favorite. He is able to photograph sports, weddings and nature to name a few. This shows his diverse talent  as a photographer and for bringing life to any image.

He captures angles and breathtaking colors in every photo no matter what or whom his subject is. Still life, style and grace within mountains and floral arrangements reveal an ethereal clarity. Offer up a pose, an event and he will capture every nuance and texture.

I believe photography is an art form. It takes a special eye, timing and patience in addition to training. I personally endorse and recognize Scott's talents and professionalism. Check out his link and contact him to assist you in preserving your finest memories.

I don't think the skies in Seattle ever looked so good, wouldn't you agree? This is Scott's favorite which comes in close second to his other and my favorite which is shown here below.

Enjoy your upcoming holidays and stay tuned for more revealing posts on very talented people.

Sincerely,
Tera

To Write or Create

How about write about creating? I go between designing jewelry to writing, my two loves. Throw in music, at this time I am listening to Anuna Celtic Origins. I am not sure which if I had to pick could I do without the longest for within me they intermix and encourage growth of the other.

I started designing jewelry about twelve years ago when my idea of excitement was going to the nearest craft store and buying a set of pliers. I grew in my knowledge and discovered more venues to purchase goods from. I am now on my third or fourth set of tools, having given the first set to a friends daughter.

Once you have the creative bug in your veins, it never leaves. When I don't want anyone to know the thoughts in my head jewelry creation is the perfect outlet for me. I loose myself in the colors, the textures and endless ideas abound. A few years back I sat at my desk wildly creating for nearly six hours.

The problem I have discovered is that I am quite content many times to just be left alone. Are you really ever alone when surrounded by fifteen cases of beads? The beads don't talk back to you, right? Wrong. To me, they say "I belong on a necklace, I long to be a great centerpiece" another might say "I deserve to sway from ears while the lady dances".

The beads most certainly do talk. Even before they are completed peices they tell stories. Lampwork beads from an artist bare heart and soul, wind and fire, playfulness and absolute passion. Vintage beads hold a special history and when I handle them I can imagine tea parties, ballroom dances and beach picnics.

I prefer polymer clay to sculpt with. I sit and gather the colors, mulling over the possibilites without ever knowing what I may create. I have shown peices in galleries and those are usually the ones my daughter either takes for herself or to send to her friends. I consider it the biggest of compliments. Here is a picture of my lovely daughter wearing one of my creations.

I wish I could spend my days doing nothing but writing and creating jewelry. Maybe someday I will get there. As for music, it's in my veins in a different way. I sang with school choirs, church choirs, caroling groups, the Sweet Adelines and at home or even in the grocery store.

Currently, I sing my young son to sleep just like I used to sing my daughter to bed who is now twenty years old. I have changed the songs I sing very slightly and tonight for the first time, my son sang with me.

Our song of choice for the evening "Take Me Home Country Roads". It is the most precious of all gifts to sit with my son and watch him watch me and have him mimic my mouth movements and hold my chin up while doing so. My life is truly blessed.

God Bless,
Tera

Happy Almost Valentines Day!

Think Pink! Check out the site www.bohemian-glitz.com and look for pink, red and purple colors to arrive in flurries! No more snow flurries, just flurries of love!

Think about what makes your heart pitter patter, stop a beat and twitter. However you say it, however you tweak it; you know when there is a little extra swing in your step. I actually get this feeling from various things, music, people and creating!

I attended a small concert tonight that was so full of energy all I could do after a few hours was think "I want to get home to write!" Now, this is just a little blurb on the blog map but I intend on writing more.

Coffee is awaiting....

God bless you all and remember to listen to your pitter patter!

O My!!

I did not realize it had been so long since I had posted here. I had been busy with creating, writing, job hunting, moving from a flooded apartment, new site building...everything apparently but blogging!! eeekkk!! Forgive me...

If you would, please take a peek at my new site Bohemian Glitz I have added the mens items just tonight. In lieu of several categories, I have decided to list everything in just a few simple categories. For men, for women and possibly a category just for accessories like hair pieces. This way, people can browse and see what a diverse collection there is.

Enjoy!!
