Artist or Crafter?

Ever ask yourself that question? Are you an artist or a crafter ? Where do you draw the line?
I consider myself an artist. I create unique jewelry that no one else ever has and I have a keen eye to detail. I use the best materials I can get my hands on as well.

I put my heart and soul into what I create. I think that is a key factor to being an artist.
This lovely woven necklace went home with a friend....it was made by me, an artist.
When you buy something for yourself do you consider where it came from and choose it with care knowing the person on the receiving end will treasure it just like you did when you created it?

Happy Monday,
Tera

What's New!

What's new is reinventing the old. Taking a fresh look at my own creations and reinventing them. As my process and techniques have changed I look back on what I previously created and while I like what I see I know I can create so much more.

Today I took a pair of dangles that I never hung on earwires and I finished them. They sat around for about 13 months or more. I am extremely pleased with how they turned out. Below is a set of pictures of another pair that I reinvented today. The rose quartz stones were on gold plated posts with the seed beads. I removed the stone from the wire, strung them on gold plated beadalon jewelers wire with more of the lovely gold lined seed beads. I included a vintage gold bead, 14 kt gold twisted jump rings and hung them on earwires I formed out of 14 kt gold wire.

Happy Creating!!

I Was Once Displayed in a Gallery

I was once displayed in a gallery

made to feel pretty and important

displayed amongst blown glass and copper sculptures doing my time and having a blast
created with love by hand and made to be admired and looked at

hung with care on a silken cord

sitting there in the gallery I about lost my gord

but alas, I am just a thing
a pretty thing to hang about

I have no gord
No gourd
No lord
No lording
I have just sat
Galleries are not really all that
mmmm
 but I miss them
I want to go back
to hang about with copper and glass this and that

Its Been A Long Time

Good evening, its been a long time...didn't realize how long since I had published here. There's a bit of news on the jewelry front.  Here we go....

I still continue creating while I can. I've had a few set backs and things are getting busier with my little one entering school this year. I  am showcasing a collection of items at a local shop in Burien called Suite Assignments.

Here's a couple of creations you will see there if you stop by. The first one is a green agate and 14kt gold wrapped ring. The second is a bright orange agate 14kt gold ring surrounded by pearls and crystals.

I finished something new tonight...heres a peek...blue stone chip necklace with glass leaves which look very much like daggers...?

My last sold item....peacock and potato pearl dangles on sterling silver hammered earrings

And one of my favorite designs still available in my etsy shop...mother of pearl discs hanging from oxidized sterling silver chain and wire wrapped onto copper earwires.

Last but not least...something a little fun. I bought myself a laptop this year that has a webcam...ooo fun

The new year is coming to a close and its time to be thinking of next years goals. I pondered a bit this last year over my creative ventures, what to keep doing and what not to. I closed up my UsTrendy and then had slight remorse. I prefer not to give up on a site but I can only keep up with so much. I had been approached by a California online boutique so started a shop presence there and soon after found that I could not contact them. I reclaimed an old domain name and couldn't be more tickled with that.

I began writing more, doing open mics and workshops. I published in print once and missed one deadline to be published in print again by the same entity. OOPS. A story I began writing over 12 years ago peaked my interests and I decided to attack it with a renewed vision. So far, I have fourteen pages front and back hand written. Yes, I am writing it in a notebook unlike many who are using computers. I don't have to worry about finding wifi.

I've been involved for the last few years with fundraising for Parent Trust. Below is a photo from the wine and cheese event and more recently, I assisted and had great fun at The Mad Hatter Tea Party. I painted faces, decorated tables and recorded during the auction.

I am sure this next year will be a great one and I will continue on with writing, creating, donating time and creativity except by mid June I will be doing so as Mrs...yes, I got engaged! Have never been happier...stay tuned.

Peace, love and hoping your year is filled with many positives!
